Gordon Giltrap - Kay 8127 Solo Special acoustic guitar, made in USA, circa 1963; Body: mahogany back and sides, repairs to side and finished in satin black; Top: natural spruce, general play wear and dings, bridge reset, refinishing; Neck: mahogany with maple centre; Fretboard: ebony; Frets: brass, minor wear, oxidisation to extreme edges; Hardware: replacement tuners; Case: Gator hard case; Overall condition: good *Formerly owned by renowned guitarist Gordon Giltrap, this guitar was acquired by the vendor directly from him in 1999. It bears Giltrap’s signature and the date inscribed on the back of the headstock. Accompanying the instrument is a handwritten and signed letter of provenance from Giltrap, confirming that he originally purchased the guitar at auction and had it lovingly restored by master luthier Alan Exley. Giltrap described it as one of the largest guitars he ever owned - and certainly one of the loudest
