389 :: Martin Barre (Jethro Tull) - 1987 Marshall Silver Jubilee model 2553 JCM25/50 guitar amplifier, made in England, ser. no. 04098, small box head and custom 4 x 12 cabinet *Provenance: This amplifier was purchased by the current vendor from the personal collection of Hugh Manson in Exeter, Devon, UK. It was formerly owned by Martin Barre of Jethro Tull and still has the original faint yellow chinagraph pencil marks of Martin's settings intact. Also, it still has the original clear plastic sticker on the front and back panels. This was one of three similar amps Martin Barre used with Jethro Tull. This was his primary amp and is labelled number 1 by the input. Hugh Manson has a long association with Martin Barre and purchased this from him and used it as his workshop amplifier for many years before selling it directly to the current vendor. The cabinet is a unique item made after asking Marshall Amplifiers to build a matching 4 x 12, Marshall obliged and provided the cabinet, using original Silver Jubilee vinyl they had leftover from the first run in 1987. Sold with a signed letter of provenance from the seller.
